Stuck
1982. Oil on canvas. 36" x 36," 38” square framed.
This painting was created on a trip to Cooperstown, NY where the van we were driving in broke down by the side of the road and we had to sleep and freeze in it overnight, then next morning have it towed, and then fixed. There is a figure fishing into the road and the line is stuck. The road appears as a stream flowing through the Cherry Valley, and the design was performed from just above the river and inside a large water pipe that handles overflow in times of flood, but to many it seems as if the figure is doing something else. It features a tremendous amount of fine detail. This is one of my best examples from my "Dot Paintings" series.
